In non-website news, I've been sampling a lot of a particular composer for an upcoming record. This is usually how it works--I build up a sample library then write songs around it. This time, as with Empire and Monster Music 1 and 2, the record will have a filmic theme, but I expect it to be darker and more mysterious.

I got a chance to see a copy of the Larvae DVD at Ad Noiseam HQ. Ad Noiseam was able to secure some copies for its mail order shop, and I'll be coming home with copies to sell at shows. People have asked for a long time, and now, the videos from our shows are finally available for you to take home and love like a new puppy.

Forever, the answer has been no. We made the videos to be displayed at shows and not to be watched on a TV at home, but still, people have always asked. We've run the gamut from shooting our own videos on Super 8 film to completely appropriating images from movies, TV, and video games, so there's always been a question about how we could put all of that on a DVD. Who would be crazy enough to put one out? Well finally, someone has. There's now a white label DVD that has 14 of the videos we use at shows and you can actually take this home! We threw in some special features and an audio commentary for each video, so this is the one people have been waiting for. We'll have the DVDs at upcoming live shows, but that may be just about the only place you can get them. These shows will feature songs from Loss Leader and previous records, along with videos both new and old. For the European dates, we should have some exciting, secretive new merchandise.

The remix for Firs is set to be released on a 10" record. The artwork and mastering is done, so when it's released, I will be sure to update the site with where you can get a copy.

The original track is called New Hope and you can hear it on their Myspace page. I'm not sure what will become of the remix, but I'm quite fond of it.

Next up, we are working on a new Toho-themed video for Gigan and the Mysterians, a track from the newest release Loss Leader. I hope to debut it sometime in March at some shows. Shortly thereafter, Larvae will be returning to Europe for a handful of shows. Details will be forthcoming!

In other news, a remix for a band from Birmingham, AL is almost finished. A Loss Leader release show will be booked for Atlanta in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled.

The next Larvae release will be a double-EP for Ad Noiseam titled Loss Leader. The disc will consist of two sets of tracks that are intended to be understood as two different EPs, not a single album. Rather than clutter the environment with twice as many plastic discs with less material on each, we went with a single disc that has all eight songs on it. Loss Leader is comprised of:

3.Gigan and the Mysterians

Each of these EPs is stylistically and thematically distinct from the other. Hopefully it will all make sense and there will be something on the record for anyone to love.

Next, there will be a new Larvae track titled "All Thumbs" available exclusively on the 2008 Maschinenfest Compilation CD. This is a not-so-subtle clue that Larvae will be performing at this year's MASCHINENFEST alongside the likes of Enduser, Bong-Ra, Scorn, and many others. If you happen to be in Germany between October 2nd and 5th, please do stop by and check it out! This is the 10th Anniversay edition of the festival and I'm both honored and excited to be travelling back to play.
